HEAVEN: How to Get There

By: David A. Beck

Where would you go if you died today?

My friend, Heaven is a real place and you can be absolutely sure that you are going there when you die.

How can anyone know that?

1 John 5:13 "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life."

But, you cannot get to heaven "on your own doing" because you are a sinner.

Rom. 3:10 "There is none righteous, no, not one."

Rom. 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."

Eccl. 7:20 "For there is not a just man upon the earth, that doeth good and sinneth not."

What makes us sinners is that we have been led away by our own desires (lusts).

James 1:13-15 "Let no one say when he is tempted, 'I am being tempted by God'; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death."

God gave us a free will - the ability and right to make choices in our lives.

Unfortunately, each of us, at some time, chooses to break God's law. Sin is a choice ... a choice that separates us from a totally righteous God .... and, unless forgiven, our sin will keep us from going to Heaven; because only the righteous will inherit eternal life.

How do we become righteous?

Jesus, through His horrible death, paid the price for our sin.

Rom 6:22 - 23 "But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

God gives the gift of eternal life to those who seek it; and it's free!

It's free because the sinless Son of God took the punishment for us.

Rom 5:8-9 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him."

Jesus wants to forgive you of your sins and give you eternal life starting today.

Eph 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast."

There is nothing you can do to earn salvation. However, you can accept this wonderfully free gift of God; but it must be on His terms.

First, you must believe and confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He died and was resurrected for you.

Rom 10:9 "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved;"

Then, you must repent ... determine to change your life; and begin following God's will instead of your own.

Acts 2:38 "And Peter said to them, "Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

Once we have admitted to God and man (Rom. 10:9) that we are sinners, and we are sorry, and that we have decided to follow His will instead of our own, the rest is easy!

All you now need to do is to be baptized, to have your sins washed away in the sacrificial blood of Jesus.

Mark 16:15-16 ... "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned."

Acts 22:16 'And now why do you delay? Arise, and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.'

Did you know that Jesus invites you to personally come to Him and be a part of His church.

Mat 11:28 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest."

Mat 16:18, ".... upon this rock (Peter's confession of Christ's deity) I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it.

Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died for you, was buried, and rose from the dead? Then you can become a Christian and be added to the church the Lord said He would build.

Acts 2:47 (NKJV) ....the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

If you desire salvation from your sins and want to serve Christ instead of self, please contact us. We are simply Christians who are following God's word and are affiliated with no"man-made" religion. Someone will be glad to baptize you for the forgiveness of your sins this very hour! Then, you will be added by the Lord to His church, and will begin your new life as a Christian.

This will begin your journey to Heaven.

We, as fellow Christians, will encourage and help you to follow Him. Jesus tells us through His word what He expects of us. We must study the Bible and apply what we learn to our lives.

2 Tim 2:15 "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth."

2 Tim 3:16-17, "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work."

You must obey Him, and remain faithful to Him until death.

Rev 2:10 ".... Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life."

You will not be joining a denomination; you will simply be a Christian, a member of His church, the church of Christ.

Rom 16:16 "Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you."

Nothing keeps you from calling us right now and letting someone assist you in obeying the Lord ... it is your choice!

Perhaps you would like further study, or to ask questions concerning this little tract. If you do, PLEASE let us know. We are not trying to call people to us, and our church; but to the Lord, and salvation that can be had through His sacrificial death and the hope that we have through His resurrection.

Rom 6:3-6, "Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection..."

Please take this opportunity to turn your life over to God. He will grant you joy, peace, and love here on this earth, and a home in Heaven when you die.
